Tourism and Lodging As far back as the end of 1800 Mauranger enjoyed tourism. Steamers would anchor up at the pier, carrying Brits and Germans who came for the beautiful nature, Folgefonna glacier and Bondhus glacier. The old Sundal guesthouse from 1889 is no longer open to the public. The guest book holds many greetings from prominent guests. In 1860 transport of ice from the glacier to Britain proved unsuccessful as the ice would melt on the long voyage. Sundal was linked to the rest of the municipality by road in 1969 in connection with the power station. | | | | | | | | The Bondhus Lake |

For those of you who collect mountaintops, follow the old horse trail to Gardshammar, via Breidablikk to Fonnabu, guaranteed to give you memories for life. | | | | | (Photo: © T.Slettebakken/E.Sundal) | | | | | | | | | | |
