Old and new times

Traces of settlement, such as houses and fossils dating back to the Iron age has been found here. Farming is the major income for Køylo, Øyre and Flatebø and young families are moving back to the village. Nordrepollen has 29 inhabitants today.

Sand

Large amounts of sand was shipped out from Flatebø between 1950 to 1980, creating importantjobs in the tiny village. Flatebø has been granted licence to build a mini power station.

Grazing land at Markjelke.

The mountain as recreration and as a workplace

Very few places have such wild mountains as in Mauranger, accidents and scars in the nature tells its story about the extreme environment people worked in.

Statkraft build their own road from Nordrepollen to Jukla power station (750 moh/ 2250 f ) The glacier is easy accessible from here, you can park your car by the road at Goddalsætra and Markjelke.

The road is open only during summer months due to the danger of avalanche in the winter months.
